You woke up 2 minutes ago. You’ve reasserted a sense of calm that was disturbed by a flurry of cortisol and consciousness, and your feet are stretched. Your blood pressure has been coming down from a rise upon awakening, and your bladder is now empty. Still bleary-eyed, you splash some water on a face that always looks ten years older this time of day, and head towards the kitchen. Maybe you stop to comb your hair, or to put on nice clothes and socks. Or maybe you still prefer pandemic casual attire. Either way, the kitchen comes into view, and you are kind of thirsty. They say you should drink plenty of water, but what about all those other options like coffee, OJ, and smoothies? Milk, beer, or even pickle juice? When the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Dallas Cowboys in a stiflingly hot game back in September 2000, many of the players attributed their win to one thing: guzzling down immense quantities of ice-cold pickle juice. What about tea, soda, or Gatorade?
